If your Polo 6N features a driver-side airbag, it must be removed to access the steering column bolts.
A classic DIY that has aged poorly due to brittle plastics, but still doable in a weekend. The “updated” approach is slower but won’t leave you with a pile of broken trim.
Depending on your Polo 6N trim level, you will face either a standard glove box or a passenger-side airbag.

There are usually two or three 10mm bolts located under the scuttle panel (where the wiper motor sits). You must remove these to release the dash from the firewall.
Push the switch in, turn it slightly to the right, and pull it toward you to release the unit. Radio and HVAC:
Pop out the auxiliary switches (hazard lights, rear demister, heated seats) and disconnect their plugs. Remove the four screws holding the heater control panel (HVAC) to the dash. Push the control unit backward into the dashboard cavity rather than disconnecting the mechanical cables, which can be difficult to recalibrate later.
Grab the dash from the bottom. Lift slightly upward and then pull toward the seats.
